My memory crutches

In my journey to better my memory, I sometimes reflect on my ‘memory crutches’.

Memory crutches are all of those things we rely on to support our own memory.

The things we lean on if needed - you know, obviously just like actual crutches that help us walk if we’ve injured ourselves.

Here are some examples:

  • Shopping lists

  • To do lists

  • Google maps

  • A calendar

When I think about my memory crutches, I reflect on is which I could lose and which to keep!

Because, I know as handy as they can be, they can also hinder me from using my memory to it’s full potential!

Here’s my current status…

  • Shopping lists - no longer use

  • To do lists - I use these to brainstorm only

  • Google maps - use very consciously/when I really do need it

  • A calendar - do use with the intention as a final back up for events - do my best to use my own memory

So, what are your memory crutches?

Is there one you could trial some time without?
