It’s easy to think everyone else has it altogether…
It’s easy for us to think everyone else has it ‘altogether’.
To slip into the comparison trap.
Believing everyone else has it more sussed.
We can have a natural inclination to focus on what we feel we’re lacking.
We can forget all of our existing strengths and good qualities.
They often seem to get pushed riiiiight to the back of our minds.
HERE’S THE THING THOUGH.
NOBODY has it ‘altogether’.
NOBODY is ‘perfect’.
Here’s a short personal anecdote as one example.
While house sharing/flatting, myself and my housemate put the word out for a new housemate to join us.
We’d arranged ‘X’ to come and have a look at the place.
You could say X was very successful in life, running their own business.
Yet they turned up to the house inspection a day early.
No big deal right?
What I absolutely loved though, was their reaction.
They said ‘oh well, I get by in life alright’.
‘I GET BY ALRIGHT’.
Because when it comes down to it, is this not essentially all we really need to do??
JUST GET BY IN LIFE ALRIGHT.
Sure it’s great to learn and grow and test our potential.
However, take this as a reminder that sometimes we need to bring it back.
We need to get perspective.
We need to consider the big picture.
We need to remind ourselves, yeah ‘I AM GETTING BY ALRIGHT’.
