Einstein.

So, a book I currently have on my go to pile is -

‘Einstein - His Life and Universe’ by Walter Isaacson.

I have to admit I haven’t typically known a lot about Albert Einstein.

Aside from the iconic images and tidbits of information we get fed and their representation of ‘genius’.

There’s the idea that he was super human you could say.

What I’ve been gathering though, is that when it comes down to the core of it, he was actually just as ordinary as the rest of us.

Quite comically, there is even a blurb in the book about how terrible his day-to-day organisational memory was, stating:

‘He was known to leave behind clothes, and sometimes even his suitcase, when he traveled, and his inability to remember his keys became a running joke with his landlady’

Bless.

But there’s more to it than this ‘ordinary human’ reference.

His ‘genius’ I feel comes down to just a few key things in terms of the way he operated:

- A stubbornness in thinking for himself rather than being a victim to the herd mentality

- A passion, curiosity and facination with the world

- What he used his mind for and the way he used it

I am still in the early stages of this book and learning of his life therefore no doubt I will have more to say on this.

The key point I want to make though is, we cannot assume we are only ordinary and therefore not capable of ‘genius’.

I believe the way we use our minds shapes us.

Whether this be by shaping our personality traits or by shaping our intellect.

I believe we are only as ‘ordinary’ as we want to be.

Interesting in being less ordinary? Click the ‘book a chat’ button and let’s chat!
