How I started to free up my negative thinking

How closely do you pay attention to your thoughts, moment to moment?

How many of your thoughts are taken up by negativity, worry or overthinking?

Imagine if you could free up this space in your mind?

Manage out unhelpful or unnecessary thoughts and manage in - well, whatever thoughts you wanted instead?

How could this change your life?

Because the thing is, ANYONE can do this.

To help explain the how, here’s a run down of my personal experience so far -

  • About 4 years ago, in the earlier phase of my self-help book/podcast obsession, I started to take more notice of my thoughts

  • I started to realise more and more how much negative thinking dominated

  • I then started to realise I could notice them come in and choose to quietly let them go

  • Next up came worry. I would acknowledge the worry, decide whether I needed to do anything about it and again, quietly let it go

  • Most recently, I’ve become aware of how much my mind is used by overthinking decisions. I’ve been learning skills to make decisions more effectively to let go of unnecessary overthinking too

  • All of the above has over time created more and more capacity within my mind, to use for whatever else I choose -

It could be more positive thoughts or plans for the future; being more mindful of my surroundings; thinking about something I’ve read or watched; or focusing on learning something new.

A note - I don’t believe there is an end point to removing negative thoughts altogether!

However, we need to make sure they’re not completely dominating and controlling us.

All it takes to get started is an awareness and intention.

Then all it takes is time.

Little by little, over time = massive impact.
